Good Citizen Awards
Good Citizen Awards are run by the club several times a year, in association with the Kennel Club. There are Puppy, Bronze, Silver and Gold levels. Puppy level is awarded on successful completion of a Beginners' Course and Bronze, Silver and Gold levels are tested by an external, impartial examiner.
The awards are achieved by successful completion of specific handling exercises, to standards set by the Kennel Club, which increase in difficulty with each level of award. Owners' knowledge of responsible dog ownership is also tested.
Although participation in the Good Citizen Awards is in no way obligatory, everything tested is covered routinely in training, so is not as daunting as it can sound. All who take part enjoy it and gain a real sense of achievement from their success. It is especially encouraging to see how many youngsters do well.
To date, the pass rate is 100%.
