Puppy Training in Cheshire

All Sorts Dog Training
It's always easier to train good habits before bad ones are learned. Beginners' courses teach walking to heel, sit, down, stand, stay and the all-important 'leave it' command. Turns while walking to heel and recalls are also taught. There is also plenty of chance to practice learning to stay calm while socialiasing with other people and dogs.
These basic skills are the foundation for well-behaved dogs - the superb competitive obedience seen at Crufts has been achieved by practice of these same skills.
While the Beginners' courses are often comprised of puppies, there are also sessions for older dogs. It's never too late to begin training. Quite a number of beginners stay on for Progression Training classes and some even join the display team.

Dog Behaviour in Cheshire
Progression Courses work on the basics already learned on Beginners' Courses. Stays are for longer periods of time as are 'leave its' and simple changes of direction become 360 degree turns.
New skills are gradually brought in and the dogs learn to come to heel from behind their owners as well as from basic recalls. The 'finish', which brings the dog to heel from a recall, is also taught. Distance control is also developed from the early beginnings of using simple had signals with the commands to sit, down or stand.
It is usually at this stage that the Bronze and Silver Good Citizen Awards are achieved, with the most enthusiastic trainers going on to try for Gold. It is also at this stage that some trainers join the Display Team to help in our efforts in raising money for charity.
