Allsorts Club of the Year at Lord Mayor's Oscars
At a glittering Oscars style awards ceremony on 17 February, held to highlight and recognise the good deeds and community spirit of unsung heroes, Jackie and Shirl of Allsorts Dog Training were winners of the Club of the Year section. They were presented with an engraved cut glass shooting star to commemorate the win.
The awards are held annually and presided over by the Mayor, currently Mrs Maureen Grant, and Allsorts was successful for work over a decade in promoting responsible dog ownership and support of charities through the work of the display team. Jackie and Shirl have never sought the limelight, but found their reward in seeing puppies and older dogs they had helped grow into happy and well-behaved pets.
Allsorts Dog Training Club has, right from the start, aimed to improve the standard of dog care by encouraging owners to train their dogs correctly to instil good behaviour before bad habits can be learned. This ensures that owners do not find themselves in the position where they cannot manage their dogs, one of the main causes of dogs ending up in rescue centres. The skills learned have been expanded and used in the Club's displays which, in turn, have raised a considerable amount to help a wide variety of charities.
Jackie and Shirl and their guests from the team were treated to a memorable and well-deserved night at the awards, which will live in their memories.
